Marc Ford

Marc Ford is the UK's Best Kept Business Secret, a business coach, business speaker and all round top bloke. For a number of months Marc was having frustrations with is current site as it lacked the flexibility to allow him to operate his business with the same energy that matches his personality.

Issues that existed with the e-commerce side of the site and the ongoing support charges were leaving somewhat of a sour taste in Marc mouth.

The new site needed to offer Marc and easy to use backend and adopting a design that was easy to navigate as well as following his strong brand guidelines.

The pace with which Marc's business is growing required a site that had the flexibility to be able to grow with him. The ability to create new content on the fly through the CMS system was an integral component in allowing this to happen.

E-Commerce

Marc had experienced frustrations with e-commerce platforms in the past so it was essential to build something that was not only easy to use but was equally robust as well. WIth Wordpress being used for the CMS the natural choice was Woocommerce.

STRATEGY & UX

Before I could establish a sitemap I worked closely with Marc to determine a structure into a clear hierarchy. This process was critical in creating the clear navigation structure that would power the site. From there I discussed the content strategy of the brand and identified where I could create opportunities to engage his audience. Technical analysis was completed on several CMS options at this stage with Wordpress being favoured. Lastly I built out the site maps, and wire-frames.

DESIGN

I knew I wanted the design of marcford.uk to be clean and modern. The goal was to have the products easy to use and containing enough information to keep the user engaged. Encompassing Marcs video and podcasts in a simple grid system also helped bring a degree of consistency to the myrid of products and serves that are on offer.

TECHNOLOGY

Marc was under some time pressure to get the new version of the site up and running. So although it meant burning the midnight oil on a couple of occasions the whole project was completed start to finish in a little under 2 weeks,
